You have to see this anime called Inko Colors. This is so cute and I’m gonna die and I need subtitles or a dub or something please bring this to the US!
I think that cis/straight people have the wrong idea about what The Closet™ is, honestly. I frequently get asked questions like “So are you out or in the closet?” But the fact is that it doesn’t really work like that. Someone’s Out status isn’t a perfect binary that can be answered in a yes or no question. I know that movies and TV shows like to have the dramatic banner in the sky moment where they say “I’m transgender!” or “I’m bi!” and the parents find out and all the friends find out and suddenly everyone in town knows. But that’s not how coming out works for a lot of people. Coming out is not one event, rather, it’s a continuous series of many events that range from big to small throughout your life. For instance, coming out to your friends and coming out to your parents are generally two completely different decisions, and a lot of people are out to some people they know but not out to others. Some people never come out to their parents at all but they’re Out to everyone else in their life—our closets can be temporary, transient, or something that we only return to from time to time.
And then there’s the everyday closets. Do you correct the cashier when they call you sir? Do you say “my girlfriend” when you’re talking about your plans for the night with a coworker? Do you react to the “small” things like a relative asking when you’ll get a girlfriend or being called your dead name in passing? For the most part, we make decisions about Being Out every day, and often many times in a day. It happens every time we meet someone new, every time someone makes assumptions about us, every time we encounter a bigot or even another person who’s LGBT. The Closet can be a real choice for some people and if they don’t want to come out it doesn’t mean that they’re ashamed or that they aren’t proud of their identity. For other people, it’s important that they make every conscious effort to indicate their identity, be it through dress or conversation or some other way. But it’s important for cis/straight people to understand that The Closet is not a leap from people not knowing your identity to everyone knowing. Someone can be simultaneously Out and in The Closet at the same time, and most people are.

@gorebitchev666*hits the blunt* yugioh was propaganda because the season they opened the anime with in the US started by making you pity yugi for losing his exodia cards in like, the second episode i think it was. basically this fuck has a huge unfair advantage over everyone else in the world and is planning to use it to win a cash tournament. but you’re supposed to feel bad for him when he loses that advantage and ends up on an even playing field because the cards are “his property”. exodia is capital and yugi moto is the bourgeoisie
and kids are meant to think “wow id hate it if i had exodia and i lost it. i could have exodia someday so for some reason i empathize with that situation” it’s literally capital
Luke ur literally misreading this entire fucking thing cuz kaiba is literally a fucking CEO and he’s the villain. this show is anticapitalist…yugi losing the exodia cards is actually about how the proletariat loses the true value of their labor under the surplus theory of value
im gonna have to agree w the first analysis. yugi muto’s grampa is firmly petit bourgeois. he owns his own games shop, accumulates capital, extracts value (albeit indirectly) from the labor of the people printing/crafting the cards/games that he sells, and passed down the pieces of exodia (exodia, keep in mind, was produced by maximillion pegasus, who owns the whole game, who creates the rules – one could say he is the epitome of the neoliberal state, as he regulates the means of production & the whole Duel Monsters economy – exodia thus representing the potential for maximum extraction of capital through subservience to this state) to his grandson in the same way capitalists invest in their progeny to continue the family business.
yugi is originally in competition w seto kaiba, similar to how small businesses compete with megacorporations, but after kaiba is ousted from his company by the board of directors he collaborated w yugi, essentially a business deal, to regain his former standing in exchange for assisting yugi to extract value from his Duel Monsters competition and defeat Pegasus. yugi assisted kaiba in trying to LITERally overthrow the state in favor of a financial oligarchy, though that was not necessarily yugi’s end goal, as he just wanted to release his grampa from the clutches of Maximillion Pegasus in order for his “small business” to thrive.
so while, yes, yu-gi-oh IS a show about class struggle, yugi muto is at best a reactionary & possibly an ancap. weevil underwood is the working class, he rejects the trappings of capitalist accumulation and profit motive, and his throwing the pieces of exodia off of that boat was a revolutionary act. next.
nobody printed the cards they appeared magically from ancient egyptian tombs
my cat figured out how to open the cabinets so he made a nest in his favorite one. he’ll only come out if he hears the fridge open.
